Release date, Elektra and Vertigo; 08/09/88 while Sony waited to 14/09/88

The American testpressings are very interested. The first testpress is on one LP only, and does not include the track "Frayed ends of sanity". Elektra originally planned to release it as a single album. Due to the length of the songs they had to release it as a double vinyl set. This test pressing presumably was one of the attempts to fit as much of the album as possible onto one disc. One or two copies have survived, and is of cource very valuable.

Some vinyl copies are printed on high quality audiophile vinyl for better sound. Theseare transluscent brown when held up to a bright light.
