REVIEW: METALLIC ASSAULT
Metallic assault Several Metallica tribute albums have been released, but "Metal assault" is the first to include well known artists from well known bands, and that's why this CD is different.

Most of these CDs are not released to honour Metallica, but to make a few cents to some unknown bands and small record companies. This is not the case here. The disc is full of well known thrashers, many of them famous from the days when Metallica was an up and comming band as well.

I was excited to find my favourite thrash vocalist here "Billy Milano" from SOD and MOD, as well as old friends of Lars & Co like Scott Ian (Anthrax), John Christ (Danzig), Eric A.K. (Flotsam & Jetsam, Jasons old band) and John Marshall (Metal Church) who played guitar on stage for Metallica when James broke his arm.

What's funny is that Metallica has recorded songs by some of the bands on the list as musicians from Thin Lizzy, Motorhead and Black Sabbath are represented.

The disc is put together by Ex Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick who has done other tribute albums in this serie. Guess he is looking for a new job after he was replaced by Ace again in Kiss

The music is different, but it is still cool. Seems like they have concentrated more on the music, while Metallicas versions is more vocal-orientated. The double bassdrums on Battery is killer, and so is the two-part vocals on "The unforgiven".

What I don't like is the packaging. The cover is too much cliché with axes and lightnings, and the list of people doesn't tell from which band they come from. This might be because of record contracts limiting them, but I have done my best and written the bands in the list below.

All in all this is a recomended album!
