LARS IN TENNIS JAM
encycmet.com was the first Metallica site to bring you the news that Lars was going to play (tennis) in a "dream team" at the "Grand Slam Jam Tennis Shootout" in Austin, TX.
Lars teamed up with John McEnroe as his partner in doubles match. First against tennis player Jim Courier and REM bassist, Mike Mills and then against Andre Agassi and Paul O'Neill of the New York Yankees. Of cource, Lars and John won both maches, but that wasn't the only thing happening this day
The Grand Slam Jam continued later on that night at "Club Antones" with a once-in-a-lifetime jam. The band had Lars on drums, John McEnroe on Guitar/Vocals, Mike Mills on keyboard and Jim Courier on Guitar. They played for half an hour and jamed songs like "Sweet Home Alabama" (Lynyrd Skynyrd), "Johnny B. Goode" (Chuck Berry), Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" (Hendrix)
