"My Generation" uniquely chronicles how the realities of the 1980's and '90's changed the idealism of the 1960's that was embodied in the mythic cultural event of Woodstock 1969. The film answers the question of whether the Woodstock revivals of 1994 and 1999 possessed the same idealism as the original festival, updated for today's younger generation, or were simply commercial enterprises co-opted by the very Establishment the 1969 concert stood against.

Concert footage from the 1969 event includes Jimi Hendrix, The Who and Santana. From 1994-1999, the acts include Rage Against the Machine, Limp Bizkit and of cource a lot of Metallica.
