Composer and long-time collaborator with Metallica, Michael Kamen, sadly passed away in a hospital close to his London home yesterday (November 18th), after suffering from a "cardiac event", with the doctors unable to revive him.
Michael was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1996 but didn't reveal this to the public until recently (see news below). He is survived by his wife, two daughters, his father, and three brothers.
Kamen started his work with Metallica when the black album was recorded. He did some orchestra tracks for Nothing else matters. This was not used on the album, but later released on the b-side of the Sad but True CD single. He later conducted the San Francisco orchestra when they recorded the S&M album.
