Starting after 8 p.m. Godsmack again did surprisingly good show. Better than I had expected but no comparison to Metallica. They kicked off with "Blackened" followed by "Creeping Death" which were as always perfect. Metallica seemed to be in great mood and James dedicated "Seek & Destroy" "to our friend Saddam". I'm glad they played "Fade To Black" today instead of "Sanitarium", very atmospheric and great Hammett lead even though the lead guitar was more quiet than last time. "Frantic" was again started by a little jam and followed by "Dirty Window" with Kirk using a wine red Les Paul. James introduced the band before "Bells" and Rob played a little solo. When it was time to play the "The Unnamed Feeling" James presented Kirk Hammett on "rhythm guitar". He said something like "I don't want to embarrass you, but you're just that fuckin' good". Needless to say that "Sad But True" and "One", including deafening pyros at least for the front row, always work excellent. Great to hear "Damage Inc." instead of "Battery". Really fast as it should be. "Harvester Of Sorrow" was again dedicated to the long time fans and was followed by "Nothing Else Matters". Lars played the opening riff on Kirk's guitar then they both played on one guitar and later Kirk was fooling around with the drumsticks. During "St. Anger" all three play on top of the stage which is a cool sight. Something was wrong with Kirk's guitar during this song, they fixed his transmitter twice.

After "Sandman" and the usual celebrations they played "Die, Die, My Darling". James used a new colorful Les Paul here. Finally "Hit The Lights" and promises to come back to Germany next year.

What can I say? I had pretty high expectations after a great show in Zürich but Metallica always deliver 100% especially in front row. Great sound, excellent band. As Godsmack's frontman said. "I'm sure they'll kick your ass". That's what they did better than anyone else on this planet, I guess. It seems as if they're always having a great time on stage.
