GIG REPORT Location: Chicago, IL Date: Aug 27, 2004 Venue: Allstate Arena Other bands: Godsmack
The best concert I have ever been to took place on August 27th at the Allstate Arena in Chicago. First Godsmack hit the stage at about 7:30 and opened with straight out of line. As soon as the Tony hit the last note of I stand alone the crowd pretty much had a good idea about how the rest of the night was gonna be, because next up was the greatest band in the world the mighty METALLICA! As soon The Ecstasy of Gold was complete Jaymz tore right into the intro for Blackened and everybody was on their feet after tearin' the audience a new one the band followed up with Memory Remains then into Roam and some St. Anger tunes along with I Dissapear which I have never heard live until then the rest of the night was full of newer Met tunes such as Fuel and Nothing Else Matters and old school fan faves, Fade to Black and Master of Puppets also included was a Full Metal Jacket tribute version of One with more fireworks than a 4th of July show. The last 2 songs played were the nine year chi town absentee Disposable Heroes and the Kill 'Em All classic Seek and Destroy! I can only sum up that night in one word and thats Amazing!
