Montreal, night #1 - The Bell Centre was near capacity on this first night,
as my friends and I arrived at the end of Godsmack's performance. At 8:45,
the house lights went out and Ecstasy of Gold began. Metallica took the
stage and launched into Blackened, following it up with Fuel and Roam.
After Kirk's first doodle, we got a couple of Load favorites, Bleeding Me
and King Nothing, sandwiched around Frantic. Disposable Heroes, No Leaf
Clover, and Rob's bass doodle (which included a teaser from Orion)
followed. Fade, Master, and Fight Fire finished off the first part of the
set. St. Anger sounded really good live, as did Nothing Else Matters, Sad
But True, One, and Sandman. When the band came back for the encores, we
were treated to unbelievably awesome versions of Dyers Eve and Seek and
Destroy. Jaymz, Lars, Kirk, and Rob thanked the Montreal faithful, and
left us salivating for Monday night's show...
