Being my first Metallica concert, I went in there not knowing what to expect, but expecting a great show at the same time. I found my seat just as Godsmack started their first song, and being a big fan of Godsmack also, found myself screaming out the lyrics to all their best songs. They even did a dual drum solo in the style of the Live $hit videos! After they finished their set, the road-crew wasted no time in setting up for Metallica, and then it happened......The Ecstasy of Gold started and the crowd went up! The boys took to the stage and blasted right into Blackened. The metal onslaught continued through Fuel, Harvester of Sorrow, and even The Unforgiven! Through their entire set, the fans were screaming, jumping, headbanging, and banging their fists in the air, and the Metallica boys fed off the energy and thrashed through their set! Aside from a few technical audio difficulties in blackened, they put off a perfect show. The crowd went crazy when they announced they were going to play The Prince!! They ended their show with Seek and Destroy and promised not to wait another 7 years before coming back to Ottawa. I left the concert with a sore back, sore neck, sore arms, and sore throat, and it's definately something i'm going to do again!
