Report:Stephen Murphy

What a time that was had by all. Last night was one of the best nights for a lot of reasons. Obviously because I got to see Metallica. We got there at about 7:00 or so, bought our shirts and missed the first song from Godsmack because I had to get a few T-Shirts. We finally found our seats and we couldn't have been more disappointed. They were as far back as you could possibly go. Our backs were literally against the wall and pointing to the side of the stage. We couldn't see them on the stage very well, so we watched godsmack on the monitors hanging from the rafters. They put on a great show with an awesome drum war between the drummer and Sully. The act was done and we sat there waiting for the guys to change the sets, sitting there kind of bummed out that we couldn't see shit when out of nowhere this lady came up to me, and I! have no understanding as to why, but she was an angel of mercy, asking how many people were in my party? I said 4. She said here is a gift from Metallica and handed me an envelope. Inside were 4 tickets to other seats. I was looking for the date to see if someone was just giving me tickets to another show or tickets to a previous show, but it was for this show. When we got to our seats, we were in the 13th row, in front, about 30 feet from the center stage. I could see the whites of the guy’s eyes. I think I fucking cried. The show was flawless for the most part. James messed up the lyrics to Memory Remains and Sad But True, which Sully came up and sang with him. Kirk was in true style from back in the 80s, doing his solo behind his head. It was amazing. Since the World Series of Baseball was happening this night in Boston, the arena was in Mayhem with Red Sox Rule, and Yankees suck. James didn’t communicate with the audience much like he usually ! does, which disappointed me, but it was a slight flaw in an otherwise perfect evening.
