GIG REPORT
Location:London, Canada
Date: 28 Oct, 2004
Venue:John Labatt Centre
Other bands: Godsmack
Report:Rob Elkerbout

WOW!!! That's all I can really say about the London Ontario show. I still cant believe that METALLICA was in London. The anniversery of their coming together, celebrated in a city of 350,000. If that's not good enough, they were playing in London for the first time ever. A lot of Metali-virgins turned into huge fans at this show. If metallica ever reads the gig reports, here's a HUUUGE THANKS FROM ALL OF US.

I thought I'd be seeing most of the same thing I saw in Toronto a couple weeks earlier. Man, was I wrong. I got to the show with a few buddies around 7. Fans were still lined up around the block, it took us 45 minutes just to get in. Everyone was pumped. Every 2 minutes someone would scream METALLICA!!! and everyone else would cheer. The line up made me miss seeing Godsmack again. Oh well, I was only there for one thing. The show started off with the classic Ecstacy of Gold. The whole place just exploded in cheers. The set list for this show was SICK!! Songs I thought I would never hear in concert were played; Leper Messiah, The God That Failed, Damage Inc., 4 horsemen. Holy Shit! These guys didnt hold back. The BEST, absolute BEST part of the show was when James asked us if we wanted to hear new or old shit. The crowd, and myself were more for the old shit (Hey, it's what I grew up too). So they busted into HIT THE LIGHTS!!! We all went nuts. Thrashing all around, acting like maniacs, whiplashing. But I wonder what they would have played if we wanted new shit????

There was a slight moment of worry when Kirk stepped too close to some pyro. It happenned right in front of me. You could see on his face just how close he came to pulling a James (the montreal incident). He still kept playing, but he was looking right at us smiling and shaking his head.

This was by far, the best concert I have ever been to, EVER!!!. Mad respect for James, Kirk, Lars and Rob for putting on one hell of a show.
