II saw the show at the HP Pavillion on Sunday and it was great. This was the last show on the Madly in Anger Tour, and both bands gave it their all.
Godsmack did a good job mixing their popular songs with less known hits ("Faceless," etc.). There was also Sully's usual drum solo, which was really good. They did a very good job getting the crowd pumped, and as they said: "Get some sweat on the eyebrows" before Metallica hit the stage.
Metallica came on around 9pm. They played a solid set, mixing the old and the new, with more emphasis on Master of Puppets and the Black Album. It was great to hear "Disposable Heroes" again. I saw the performance at the Anaheim Pond on Saturday, and it struck me as odd that they did not play anything off of "Ride the Lightening." This time was different. They took out "Holier Than Thou" and replaced it with "For Whom the Bell Tolls," thereby touching on virtually every album. They even played the solo from "Orion."
One interesting thing: I've seen Metallica 6 times now, and this was the first time (outside of the Anaheim show) that they did not play "Creeping Death." "Creeping Death" and "Fade to Black" would have made the show better than any greatest hits album. But that's just being picky.
