Music used as a device to intimidate or aggravate enemies dates back to the Old Testament when Joshua and his army blew their trumpets at Jericho.

In Iraq, heavy metal music has been used to frighten soldiers as U.S. troops seek insurgents. According to London's Express newspaper, the hit parade has included AC/DC's "Shoot To Thrill", "Hell's Bells" and "(You Shook Me) All Night Long".
