"After parting ways with Metallica, this feels like, yeah, I can have fun again," Rock said.

"Not that they weren't fun -- don't read that wrong. But it was a longer commitment than anyone thought it would be, both in a record sense and personally.

"I think we're both happy to be taking some time from each other. And it means I get to make all sorts of different records."

"Now, don't misunderstand -- I love it. I love making records and that's why I do it. But there are patterns with artists, whether they're singles or groups. It ebbs and flows. They're up and they're down. There were records with Metallica that were easy and then there were records with Metallica that were just like sheer misery. And I would say the same thing with Motley Crue, with Bon Jovi, with a lot of artists.
