This week Metallica released a screen shot of the album cover, a black and white cover with a magnetic coffin-shape in the middle with some iron dust around it. A good idea for an album titled "Death magnetic" and it is totally different from any other covers by the band. That's cool. It is also nice to see that they use the old original logo used 25 years ago on the debut Kill 'em all. What I don't like about the album is that it looks like an open coffin with pubic hear. I have also seen other persons mentioning the same, so it is not just me.
I am collecting original cover-arts and have several pieces including Iron Maiden and Jimi Hendrix numbered and signed by the painter/photographer. I also have 4 different "St.Anger" lithos signed by Pushead. "Magnetic Death" is not something I would like to have up on the wall.
When in Norway James Hetfield talked to the newspaper VG about the new album and title. Here's James Hetfield talking to talking to VG TV about the album title. "It started out as kind of a tribute to people that have fallen in our business, like Layne Staley and a lot of the people that have died, basically -- rock and roll martyrs of sorts." and he continues. "Thinking about death... some people are drawn towards it, and just like a magnet, some people are drawn towards it, [and] other people are afraid of it and push away. And the concept that we're all going to die sometimes is over-talked about and then a lot of times never talked about"
