Metallica visited this town in Norway for the first time this year and stayed there for a full week. Bergen is known for two things, a nice old houses and a lot of rain. Metallica got both. The concert was in the castle in the middle of the town centre and this was just a perfect place for a perfect band.
Sword was up first but what they delivered was not much more than background music when people arrived. Then Down entered the stage. They have some fans in Norway and there was no doubt that many of them was on the field right in front of the stage today. They made a lot of noise but was probably not allowed to use all of the equipments on stage so the sound was not perfect or loud enough at the back.
Then Metallica entered and everybody was having a good time on the field. The huge screen behind the stage was so big that everyone could see what was going on, even in the heavy rain that was present from time to time.
Creeping death is a perfect song to start the show, but the setlist lacked of fresh songs. No songs released after the black album was played, nor any of the new songs from the coming album. This is lame; there should be at least one song in there good enough for a show. Also doing a concert and not playing one song from the latest album is a big no-no. Only retro-bands like Kiss and Rolling Stones does this.
Here is the setlist
