Metallica then launched into one of its well-known hits, "Sad But True" -- but truth be told, Hetfield's declaration just as easily could have been pronounced before almost every song the metal mavens performed during their high-energy 2-hour, 10-minute slugfest. (from heraldextra.com)

Watching the band run down a darkened, heavily guarded aisle toward the stage reminded one of a 70s arena-rock spectacle, particularly as the frenetic light show took over the rectangular slab for the opening song. Despite buried vocals and a similarly cymbal-heavy drum mix early on, the set evened out as it continued, the band mostly ignoring material from its mid- and late-'90s output for its bookend albums.
