==== NEW SINGLE  =================================================
The new single from Garage Inc will be one of my favorites from the CD
"Whiskey in the jar", released later this month. There will be 3 versions
of it released, all with different live tracks. You can already now
pre-order it from the encycmet-Metallica shop for US$ 30 for all 3. Just
put it in the "comments" form on the order form. Live tracks are recorded
at the Roseland Ballroom in New York in November, 1998. Parts 2 and 3 are
limited to 10,000 copies. here is the tracklist:

==== GARAGE INC BOX TO BE RELEASED  ==============================
A new garage Inc. box set will soon be released. It will include the
Vertigo version of the double CD as well as a hat, a double sided shirt
and a badge. all this will come in a garage style box. You can pre order
it now from the Metallica shop for $125. Just write it in the "comments"
field on the order form. this will be a very limited edition. 




==== METALLICA SUES VICTORIA'S SECRET ============================
Metallica filed a lawsuit in the California Western Division of United
States District Court on Thursday (January 14) against Victoria's Secret
and Victoria's Secret Catalogue, citing trademark infringement, false
designation of origin, unfair competition, and dilution. 

Representatives for Metallica will serve the lawsuit through certified
mail on Tuesday (January 19). 

The following is from the lawsuit: "Victoria's Secret manufactures and
sells lip pencils bearing the mark Metallica. The packaging for Victoria's
Secret's Metallica lip pencils also bear the mark Metallica. These lip
pencils continue to be sold by Victoria's Secret throughout the United
States. "Victoria's Secret's use in commerce of the mark Metallica for lip
pencils is likely to cause confusion, deception, and mistake in the minds
of the public with respect to the source and origin of Victoria's Secret's
goods; is affiliated with Victoria's Secret and/or Victoria's Secret's
goods; or has sponsored, approved, or licensed Victoria's Secret use of
the mark Metallica and/or Victoria's Secret goods offered under such
mark." The lip pencil in question involves a color donned Metallica, which
has been available since mid-1998, according to Jill Pietrini of Manatt,
Phelps & Phillips, LLP, the attorneys for the band. Metallica sent a
demand letter to Victoria's Secret on Oct. 27, 1998, calling for the
discontinuance of the product. According to a source, Victoria's Secret
responded that when their current inventory of the lip pencils were sold
out, they would change the name. The two sides, however, could not reach
an agreement. Victoria's Secret will have 30 days to respond to the
complaint once it has been filed.

==== THE LOST METALLICA SONGS ====================================
We've all heard the wild stories of the "missing" Metallica. It's finally
been revealed that there are indeed TWO "lost" songs Metallica has
recorded. During the Master Of Puppets recording sessions, Metallica
recorded two covers songs: Diamond Head's The Prince, which was later
re-recorded during the AJFA sessions for a b-side and is now available
again on Garage Inc, the second song was Fang's "The Money Rolls Right
In."
