==== METALLICA TO TEAM UP WITH SF SYMPHONY =======================
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Metallica, one of the world's premier hard rock
bands, will collaborate with the San Francisco Symphony on a musical
project to be performed next year, organizers announced Wednesday.
"Ground breaking, Grammy-winning rock icons Metallica have always
challenged themselves and their audience to expand musical and cultural
boundaries," promoter Bill Graham Presents said in a news release.
Grammy and Oscar-winning composer and arranger Michael Kamen will also be
involved in the project, details of which will be announced at a news
conference on Jan. 6.
Metallica, whose four members live in the San Francisco area, last month
issued
Garage Inc.,'' a double album of cover songs in which they pay
homage to the likes of Thin Lizzy and the Anti Nowhere League.
The San Francisco Symphony has previously collaborated with members of
another legendary San Francisco rock band, the Grateful Dead.
On April 21 and 22 at Berkeley's Community Theater, Metallica will
accompany Michael Kamen and the San Francisco Symphony for the entire
performance of Metallica songs. It will be a full set with the list of
songs to play currently at 23. Some of the songs they'll play are:
Fight Fire With Fire
The Call of Ktulu
Devil's Dance
Hero Of The Day
Nothing Else Matters
The Thing That Should Not Be
Master Of Puppets.
They'll play a wide variety of their songs. Everything from the fast stuff
to the slow stuff, old and new... The band will play at full amplification.
Tickets for the shows go on sale Sunday (Jan. 10) at 10 a.m. at all BASS
ticket outlets, including the Wherehouse and Tower Record stores, or they
can be purchased online at www.basstickets.net. Tickets are $40.
