==== INTERVIEW WITH JASON ========================================
Jason is visiting Argentina, promotioning the next release, GARAGE,INC.
This is the transcription (the better i can do) of the phone interview
with Jason for a chilean radio station (CONCIERTO 101.7FM).

RADIO CONCIERTO is a radio station that plays only rock, and the interview
was made by Alfredo Lewin, who has interviewed Jason a few times before
when he was the conductor of "Headbangers Ball" on Latin MTV.

Q:Why do you think that GARAGE DAYS RE-VISITED became a rare item? 
Jzn: Ten years ago we decided to get Garage days out of circulation,
whitthe idea of reedit it ten years later (!!!). 


Q:Ten years ago you joined METALLICA, when garage days was realesed. How
did you felt in that moment about it.
Jzn:I remember that i was  very excited of being in METALLICA 'cause they
was my favorite band ever!


Q:What's are the differences comparing the recording of GARAGE,DAYS and
the sessions for GARAGE,INC?
Jzn: It was so much focus and confident now....we have  already played
hundreds and hundreds shows togheter, that's the difference.


Q:Here in Chile the "chilean horsemen", the local Metallica fan club, did
a tribute to Cliff last september. Is important Cliff in Metallica today?
Jzn:He is ever present...


Q:You did something special in september (in memory of Cliff)?
Jzn:We always!


Q:About the new single "Turn the Page". Has James something to do with the
song?
Jzn:Yes, the idea of doing "turn the page" came from James. He feel very
interpreted by the lyrics, it describe the life of METALLICA, you know,
the tour, etc. We are thinking about doing it from almost seven years ago.


Q:And what about the Lynyrd Skynyrd cover?
Jzn:It was idea of James too..


Q:I think that GARAGE,INC is the first album in which you're togheter with
CLiff...
Jzn:why do you mean???!


Q:I Mean, there will be song like blitzkrieg, in which Cliff plays the
bass, and there will be songs in which you play....
Jzn:I did't think about it!!,..thanks,beutiful,!!!!!! (very happy!)


Q:What you can tell about the artwork of GARAGE,INC?
Jzn:It will have 30 pags...A lot of info about us, the songs and the bands
that originally played it


Q: A lot of fotos?
Jzn:Yeahhh. New photos and something retrospective...


Q:Great! But... its gonna be expensive?
Jzn:I don think so


Q:What about the video for the new single?
Jzn:Maybe the next week it will be edited....


Q:What about the GARAGE,INC tour? Will you come to South America?
Jzn:We'll do five shows in the States, with a band that plays old
METALLICA'S songs supporting us, "BATTERY". Then we'll take a break in
winter and we will be back on the road in march of 99.


Q:It's true that you gonna start the tour in South America?
Jzn:yes


A:Why you're not in Chile right now?
Jzn:'Cause I'm in Argentina!! (laughs)

        
Q:Why you don't come to chile? It's only a half hour flight!
Jzn:oh,maybe next time...and we'll drink some beer!! ha-ha


Q:There's a question from the president of the chilean fan club...What
artist or song was missing in the GARAGE,INC album?
A:Iron Maiden's Prowler...we want to put it but we have to shoot it.


Q:There was something about a Tom Waits song?...he's very crazy... 
A:He´s excellent


Q:What music are you listening in the band?
A: A lot of different music...country, funk, George Clinton is
God!!...different music in different lenguages, motown music, african
music, Sly And The Family Stone, latin music, anything is good....


Q:What are your favorite songs from the album?
A:BLACK SABBATH!!!!


Q:...And what is the heaviest part?
A:The Mercyful Fate covers..


Q:It was an Ulrich idea?
A: Yes..


Q:Ten years has passed since your first gig with Metallica. What do you
think about it?...what's the best part of it?
A:Being in Metallica!!....I knew a lot of people...everybody treats you
right. You can play with a lot of differente people.. 


Q:...and the worst?
A:You dont have a real life...


Q:How time will you expend in Argentina?
A:Two days

Q:..and then?
A:I'll go to Mexico City


Q:A last question..It'll be metallica for the next millenium?
A:Don't worry about it! There's no doubt!!

==== BALLROOM BLITZ TO KICK OFF GARAGE INC. ======================
Metallica announces balroom blitz to kick off Garage Inc. For Metallica, a
band that has forged one of the seminal identities in rock history,
performing a show of nothing but covers might seem surprising. But to see
them fire up classic covers such as ³Breadfan,² ³Stone Cold Crazy,² and
³Am I Evil?² (still a Metallica encore staple) in a ballroom setting would
be downright amazing. For the first time in more than a decade Metallica
plans to perform in the smaller venues in celebration of their soon to be
released double album Garage Inc. The ballroom blitz is a rare chance for
fans to see the group in such intimate surroundings, as it follows one of
the biggest touring summers in the band¹s history. Metallica will be
showcasing the aforementioned classics, as well as many other songs from
the LP, which is being hailed as the ultimate testament to an arsenal of
influences that shaped the world¹s most vital rock band. 
Metallica is scheduled to kick off the all-cover song performances on
November 17 at the Toronto Warehouse (see schedule below), with Garage
Inc. being released a week later on November 24. As an extra added
attraction the Metallica tribute band Battery will open the show with a
complete set of Metallica covers. 

Several radio stations are sponsoring the once-in-a-lifetime performances,
including WRIF in Detroit, who purchased all tickets for the November 20
event. In a fit of Metallica inspired generosity, the station will be
giving them away to fans right up until showtime. 

Garage Inc., a project that was a lifetime in the making, is also viewed
by Metallica as a custom-made bouquet to their fans. The collection
features 27 songs, inspired by 18 different artists, encompassing three
decades of music. Many of the covers were recorded as brief respites from
grueling tours, or, as James Hetfield says, ³therapy sessions between
albums.²
