==== KIRK JAMMING IN MEXICO ======================================
Sammy Hagar's "Cabo Wabo Cantina," has been a celebrity destination
since Hagar became an active owner and host at the hot Cabo San
Lucas, Mexico nightspot in 1989. Since then, the legend has grown
and "drop-in" jams have become a regular occurrence.
Last Friday night, a local band of Mexican rockers calling themselves
"Vitamin T" were in the middle of a set, jamming to a cover of the
Metallica song, "Until It Sleeps." At the mid-point of the song,
vacationing Metallica lead guitarist Kirk Hammett walked into the
club. In the true spirit of the "Cabo Wabo Cantina," Hammett
immediately made his way to the stage and joined "Vitamin T' for over
an hour in an impromptu jam.
"That's what the place was built for," Sammy commented upon hearing
the news. "It's like a second home to me and that stage just loves
to be graced with the loud sounds of rock."
Musicians and celebrities over the years who have come to the club
include Van Halen, Bono, Alice Cooper, Jerry Cantrell, Rob Zombie and
many others over the years.

==== NEW MERCHANDISE =============================================
although there are no tour dates planned, the fan club has released
new merchandise that can be found on the members' only section. You
can go to http://www.encycmet.com to see photos + links
Seems like they have used their fantasy this time. What about some
beer mugs with pewter ninja star design or temporary tattoos of
favourite Metallica Logos and Designs?
You can still get the Scary Guy Hockey Puck and a hell lot of
different t-shirt designs. Good to see that Metallica are still
using Pushead as their designer. Also worth mentioning is the
Flaming Skull Design Mouse Pad, the Black duffle bag, and for those
of you who can afford it: Bar stool with black seat and Metallica/
San Francisco Design with the ninja star in the center. Seat sits
on chrome legs. $125 each!
If you are a member to the club you can see the stuff in the members
only section. Everyone else can join the club using the application
found here, or buy official Metallica merchandise at Metallicaworld.

==== KSJO REPORT =================================================
On the 21st of May lars was asked if he could come down to KSJO, a
radio station in San Francisco, for an interview. He said yes, but
not for an interview. "I want to do my own radio show". Lars was
supposed to start the show at 8pm, but late as always he showed up
at 8:30, but did a good show, lasting 4 hours. Here is a report by
Ninette Freitas
Lars was the DJ for the whole night. No one was asking question,
he was not a guest. Just him, a side kick, technican and the music.
It was very different and a lot of fun.
First of all, Lars was late (no surprise I am sure) but not to bad.
He was there at 8:30 PM, My first surprise came when I found out
that he was going to DJ for a full shift 4 hours! (Wait, I didn't
have enough audio tape for that) finishing up around Midnight. I
did tape the whole thing (after a quick trip to the store for more
tape)
Lars was actually pretty funny. He didn't talk a lot, but played a
ton of music. He played the orginial songs by orginial artist of
Garage Inc (Breadfan, So What, Etc) and some music from the NWOBHM
album he put together som years ago (Sweet Savage, Motorhead,
Diamondhead, Iron Maiden). Megadeth was played too, and before he
put it on he made a statement. "people think we hate this band, but
we don't".
Lars plugged the new Systematic CD (Just released on Lars' record
label), played some songs from that and talked to the guys over the
phone (Systematic was in Louville, KY USA). During the conversation
with Systematic, the guys in the band were picking on Lars about
being out of touch. Lars said "Come on dude I had a new baby two
weeks ago, I have been a little busy"
Some of the funny things that happen. Lars played a remake of Enter
Sandman, by Pat Boone, It was a straight up 70's funk piece, I was
laughing so hard, it was one of the funniest things I had ever heard.
He also played a song from "Blues Clues" (This is an america kids
show with a big animated blue dog), and he said, "I have a 3 year
old and if I have to listen to this all day, you have to listen to
it too"
The coolest thing I thought was that he played a song from '82 with
Dave Mustaine on guitar, "Jump in the Fire" with different lyrics.
He also played some some live & rare Metallica tunes. Lars said that
James would kick his ass if he new he was playing this version,
However,Lars said that James was in Russian right now so no one
should tell him.
Thanks to Ninette Freitas and everyone else mailing me about this.
==== ON AIR IN DALLAS ============================================
along with being on the radio in San Francisco, Lars was also
interviewed in Dallas via phone by Mikey of 97.1 The Eagle. The
interview primarily focused on the release of Systematic's new
album today. Lars also went into chatting about Metallica's new
album a little. Basically he said this is the first time they've
gone into the studio having not written any songs. Lars said,
"...Jaymz and I would record demos and then go into the studio and
record better versions of the songs." Lars also talked about his
new son.
