==== JA RULE TRACK OUT SOON =======================================
The song everyone is discussing in the message forums here at
Encyclopedia Metallica will be released the 14th of May this year.
Yes it is really a co-operation between Metallica and the rapper JaRule.

The track titled "We Did It Again" will be released by Ghetto Stories,
a hip-hop compilation by Ruff Ryders producer Swizz Beatz. The Metallica
track will be the only mega-rock tune on the album, which will also
feature Ronald Isley, Shyne and others.

On the track, the hitmaking MC (see "J. Lo Teams With Ja Rule Again For
Remix Disc" ) raps over two 12-bar verses loaded with the band's patented
crunch, chug and wallop. The rest of the song is instrumental and does
not feature vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield, who was in rehab when
the mix was recorded last August.

The song might be somthing similar to the version of "For whom the bell
tolls" Metallica did together with DJ spooky on the Spawn soundtrack.
Other similar projects done by Metallica includes people like Moby,
Orbital and Marianne Faithfull

==== METALLICA AND WIVES ==========================================
I get many mails asking for photos of the Metallica members and
their wives. I get too many requests like that to please everyone,
but I have posted two sweet images in the newssection of the site,
both from Chinese Theater premiere of Paramount's Mission Impossible
2. Metallica recorded the song "I dissapear" for that movie. See
the images at http://www.encycmet.com

==== METALLICA IN ROTH DVD ========================================
January 14, 2002 - David Lee Roth's official site was recently up-
dated with more new photos and hints about his latest project.

Quote: Famous names listed as being involved in the new DVD include
producer Bob Rock, Kirk Hammett and Lars Ulrich from Metallica. There
are no words about what they have done on the set, nor when it will
be released. Other famous people involved are Joe Cocker, John Lowery
(AKA John 5, now AKA John 6), Bob Marlette and mega-producer and
former Chic member Nile Rodgers (Madonna, Bowie, Roth's Your Filthy
Little Mouth).

The site continues telling that David has been scoring what is now one
hours of edited, retina rosting film, video, beats and often imitated
but never duplicated Roth style hilarity.

==== GROWING METALLICA FAMILY =====================================
metallica.com reports that James and his wife Francesca gave birth
to a healthy baby daughter on Thursday January 17th.

Marcella Francesca Hetfield, born in San Francisco, weighed in at 8
pounds, 5 ounces and 21 1/4 inches. Marcella, her proud parents,
sister Cali, 3 1/2 and brother Castor 20 months, are home and doing
well.

Congratulations from Encyclopedia Metallica!

==== NEWS BITS ====================================================
A few pieces of news from "So What" magazine. To get the whole story,
join the official fanclub at http://www.encycmet.com/news/fanclub/

During Hetfield's absence, drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist Kirk
Hammett worked on Metallica's next album with producer Bob Rock, who
played all the bass parts, since the band has still not replaced
Jason Newsted. Ulrich recently told Metallica fanzine "So What" that
Metallica have assembled the frameworks for 20 new songs and are
looking forward to working on them with Hetfield. The band is
currently on hiatus and will return to the studio later this year.

==== KIRK IN GUITAR WORLD =========================================
Encyclopedia Metallica reader Jack reports: in the latest issue of
Guitar World, Kirk was the first ever inductee to the Guitar World
Hall of Fame. He talks about,in his interview, the past, present,
and future of Metallica.

He says about the new album,"We have a lot of new material, and I
like to think it's the best stuff we've done in a long time." He
also discusses the making of Seek and Destroy, The Call of Ktulu,
Master of Puppets, One, Enter Sandman, Hero of the Day, fuel, and
No Leaf Clover.

I have a subscription, so I don't know if the issue is in stores yet
or not. Also in this issue is the 2002 Guitar World Readers Poll.
With this, readers fill out a ballot and send it in, so the results
are based on fans. James and Kirk are not mentioned in the categories
such as Best Metal Guitarist or Best Metal Album obviously because
they didn't really do much lately. However, in the Biggest
Disappointment category, it says "No New Metallica Album". I thought
this was a good thing because it reflects that people, not just
Metallica fans, are anxious for new material.
     Thanks to Jack
