now to write and record the new album.

==== ENCYCMET.COM MENTIONED ON VH1 ================================
It is stuff like this that makes encycmet.com really fun to do. They
mentioned my site with a link at the bottom of the screen at VH-1s rock
show. Here is a note I got from Nick who saw the show.

Congrats for your site being mentioned on VH1's rock show. It aired
12:30AM today, the 6th. Kane quoted you while introducing the S&M version
of Hero of the day. He used info from the song interpretation portion of
the site, and posted a link at the bottom of the screen (free publicity,
hooray). Also he jokingly asked if you could tell him the meaning of the
word mouldy, he couldn't figure it out.

==== GUESTS ON STAGE ==============================================
Kid rock joined Metallica on stage in Minneapolis, MN, USA the 9th of
January and sang the chorus of Turn the Page along with James. Kid Rock is
currently supporting Metallica on their short mini tour. Kid Rock also
entered the stage at the last show

==== THE LYCOS TOP 50 =============================================
Last year, Metallica was the 5th most popular band when it comes to search
terms. All this according to Lycos.com, one of the most popular search
engines on the net with 12 million search terms a day. The other bands on
the list were

    1. Backstreet Boys
    2. 'N Sync
    3. Korn
    4. The Spice Girls
    5. Metallica

These rankings reflect all terms entered into the Lycos search engine by
users between January 1 and Thanksgiving (November 25) 1999. Individuals
(Bruce Springsteen, Britney Spears) are not included in this ranking of
bands.

==== GIG REPORT ===================================================
City: Minneapolis, MN, USA
Venue: Terget Center
Date: 10 Jan 2000

Well, I just got back from the Jan 10th show. I smell like smoke, Im
drenched in sweat, not just mine, there is an intense ringing in my ears
and I can't hear a dam thing. You know what...It was all worth it!
This was my first Metallica show and damn it was good. I had floor seats
and why didn't anybody warn me?!?!? well I got there right when sevendust
was ending, damn trafic, and I wasn't impresed to say the least. My friend
and I found some decent spots for kid rock, pretty close to the stage. Kid
rock was pretty good but I hate the midget!!GET OFF THE STAGE!!!!
Anywho...afer Kid Rock was over with, I decided to see how close I could
get, how does second row sound?? I couldn't stay there for long, the crowd
was going crazy and moving back and forth and poor little old me was
getting smashed.I only stayed there for 4 or 5 songs then headed back to
saftey.

Metallica was on fire!! Even from all the stuff of them playing live that
I have seen this was pretty good. I dont really remmeber that exact set
list but it was pretty much the same as the other ones but with a few
changes: they added "Green Hell", "Outlaw Torn" and maybe another one but
I dont remember I was trying to stay alive..and not I dont rembember
because of that!!!you know what I mean.

My favorite song they played was "one" with the 45 sec. of explosions,
bangs, booms, and fire works at the begining just made it kick even more
ass than the song already does. They also played "No Leaf Clover" with the
recorded symphony..very cool. "Blackend" was played very fast, and "Enter
Sandman" had the "Are you Alive???...How does it feel to be alive" in the
middle of it.

- Ecstasy
- Last Caress
- Fuel
- Seek and Destroy
- Creeping Death (Awesome-15,000 Metallicats screaming "Die")
- Whiskey in the Jar (Jamz' self proclaimed new drinking song)
- Memory Remains (James let the crowd sing most of this!)
- No Leaf Clover (Great vocal effects at the beginning)
- Sad But True
- Until It Sleeps (Cool slide effects with Kirk)
- Master of Puppets
- Sanitarium
- Master of Puppets (second half)
- Outlaw Torn (Awesome- They played 10 min 30 sec version.)
- Blackened (Intense)
- Nothing Else Matters
- King Nothing
- One
- Turn the Page (With Kid Rock and his guitarist)
- Enter Sandman
- For Whom the Bell Tolls (With Kid Rock, guitarist, rhythm guitarist,
midget, and Drummer)

At the end of the concert with the crowd chanting "we wan't more...We
wan't more!!!" Metallica came back out anlong with all the guys from Kid
Rock and played "For Wom The Bell Tolls" with like 4 guitars, it was
heavy!

==== SIGNED METALLICA GUITAR FOR SALE =============================
VH1 online have a guitar signed by all for members on their auction pages.
It seems like this is an unused guitar so I think US$2.600, which the bid
is now, is way too much.

Here is the description of the guitar: A white B.C. Rich guitar signed by
LARS, KURT, JAMES, and JASON with their first names only. Jason has added
"METALLICA 99". Signed in November of 99 before their symphony concert in
New York. Signed in black except for James who has signed in blue. All
guitars are signed in black marker, unless otherwise noted.
