==== MORE AWARDS ===================================================
When Metallica arrived at the venue in Slovenia, Europe June the 7th they
received 2 awards from the Slovenian recordcompany. A silver record for
the "Garage Inc." album and also a Gold record for the "Black" album.

==== SITES SHUT DOWN ===============================================
As you may have noticed, ChapterINC.com and Metshrin.com has been down for
a few days. This is a direct result of elektra contacting them or their
ISP. The primary reason being their mp3 of Minus Human. It is, according
to "Penny lane" and the "Metallica fan club", unlegal to have these files
for direct download on the sites, so now they will do everything to take
the pages down. I'm not sure if Metallica has so much to do with this,
only their companies.

No-one has contacted Encyclopedia Metallica yet, and they probably wont,
so don't worry about us. I'll keep you all posted in the newsletter.

==== DDT RELEASED! =================================================
Lars' record label, The Music Company (formerly The Record Company also
once rumored to be Gakk Records), has released it's first album by the
Canadian band DDT, entitled Urban Observer. Lars started the record label,
a new venture of Elektra Records, along with Metallica accountant Tim
Duffy, who discovered DDT.

==== GIG REPORT ====================================================
 Date:    June 13
 City:    Istanbul,TURKEY
 Venue:   Ali Sami Yen Stadium
 Att:   40.000
 Support: Megolomaniacs, Kurban and Monster Magnet.
 By:     Deniz  ERGENER

Yeeeaaahhhh !I've just seen the gig for the 2nd time in my life. It was
really really hot so some our friend needed medical treathment. At about 6
o'clock the first opening act was Megolomaniacs followed by Kurban and
Monster Magnet.

After one hour of waiting the lights went out and Ecstasy Of Gold, the
intro music started. I believe some guys like me knows what it does mean.
I was nearly dead because the crowd was maniacly moving up and down.

And then comes the Last Caress...we were like crazy, singing together.
headbanging too. Master Of Puppets was the third song. When we were
singing "Master...Master" part together, you could hear if you drop a
needle ! The syncronization of the band with the crowd and the silence was
unbelievable!! James greeted the fans, said he is happy to be in Istanbul
for the second time and contiued with of WOLF and MAN and THE THING THAT
SHOULD NOT BE.

The first pyro came at the start of FUEL, with flames all over the stage,
and a big boom with Lars's first beat.

"I don't remember the words of this song ..so I need your help!!" said
James before THE MEMORY REMAINS. At the end, Jason conducted and we were
singing the Marianne Faithful part. BLEEDING ME and Jason's bass solo was
next. Kirk later joined to play the SANITARIUM intro, which was a little
rest for everyone in the first two rows, but only to save some energy for
THE FOUR HORSEMEN. Most of the girls were pulled out from the crowd while
Kirk played the famous horsemen-riff

FOR WHOM THE BELL TOOLS! KING NOTHING was extremly fuckin' and Wherever I
May Roam prepared everyone for the peak of the show: ONE.
The war-pyro was great ! For the first time, there were little rockets
starting from the two wings of the stage.The song was amazing! After a
little intro from the RIDE THE LIGHTNING album the band started to play
FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE. The crowd screamed and screamed and screamed...

NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. Hetfield started the song stand alone sitting on a
chair....after the first chorus part the whole band joined James. Then
James and Jason start to play Sabra Cadabra ..Kirk and Lars joined some
but no words just some of it...Then comes the killer Sad but true and
Creeping dead the band left the stage for the second time. Last 3 songs
were DIE DIE DIE MY DARLING and SANDMAN was great with the big
end-explosion, and after a few minutes of drum stick give-aways and big
waves to the crowd, they played BATTERY, the last song. The concert was
huge ! It was the second time I saw Metallica live and I still say, that
they are the best live band in the world. Everyone must see this show, so
don't sit in front of your computer, move you're ass and get the tickets !
It's an experience for life all my friends!

==== SYMPHONICA ALBUM UPDATE =======================================
Jeronimo let's us know that he's read a magazine for Metallica concert in
Greece with an interview with Kirk. In it, he says Metallica will go
directly from the tour to the studio to work on the Symphonica recordings.
He mentions that the album will probably be out by the end of the year,
although rumors still say to look for a much earlier release
August/September.

==== SHORT INTERVIEW ===============================================
Short interview with Jason in Bulgaria

Q: Is there a song which you would like to have been written by you?
JN: Most of the songs of Black Sabbath and many of Zeppelin ones.

Q: How's the tour?
JN: Very good. A couple of weeks ago we were in South America - we have
been to places we have never been
before - Columbia, Venezuela. It was exciting. We are in Europe now and
the gigs are great.

Q: In Bulgaria, and maybe in other places in the world, there are people
who think that Metallica are already 'good
bye', that heavy metal is out of fashion...What do you think about that?
JN: Many people obviously think in the opposite way - that it is cool and
modern because tens of thousands of
people come to our gigs. There will always be different generations of
fans. Heavy music cannot be out of fashion, I
mean - if 'Led Zeppelin are not modern and they play around, won't you go
there to listen to them? You will, the fuck,
you will!

Q: What do you think about the war which is near us? The Prodigy refused
to come to play in Bulgaria. Indeed what
do you think of war as a whole?
JN: I am trying not to deal with politics because I don't understand it. I
am only aware of music. I can't do the world
better and I am not trying. I want refuse to play somewhere just because I
am afraid of someone's stupidity or
ignorance.. So, about Prodigy, that is their decision but Metallica is not
afraid to play where people love rock'n'roll.

Q: One private question. Who is the last man you have slept with?
JN: (laughing) Be careful! The last man I have slept with is a girl which
I have dated for 7 years.

Q: Which is your favorite song?
The best song recently is 'The Outlaw Torn', I think. And the song which I
like to play is 'Fight Fire With Fire' or
'Battery'.

Q: Do you want to say something to Bulgarian fans or to fans from all over
the world?
JN: Well, yes. I am glad that we are alive and in good health and that we
can enjoy the heavy music. And something
very important - keep this feeling of reciprocity, devote to it. And when
we came in Bulgaria we will go insane too.
We will be one big army - the army of Metallica.

==== SYMPHONY... AGAIN? ============================================
French/Canadian music TV station "Musique +" announced that Metallica and
Michael Kamen will do another Symphony Show in November 1999 at the
Madison Square Garden in New York. This was announced in an "Musique +"
interview with Michael Kamen who said that he was booked to do that in
November this year. More info as soon as possible.

==== BOOTLEG REVIEW ================================================
        Hi, I am Dan Corcoran (a huge Met-fan) and I'll be talking about
"The Apocalypse", a VERY rare bootleg (only 1000 were made). For the
Metallica fan, this has it all my friends. It is not another "Garage
Days", which most bootlegs are these days. It is a 3 CD set that has
everything from when they first started out up to the brake before "Load".
There are covers, studio outtakes and demos. Even the infamous "No Life
'Till Leather" demos! The sound quality on the first disc sux but it gets
better the more recent the stuff is. The stuff on the last disc is
studio-quality, quite impressive for a bootleg! In closing I would say
that if you see it BUY IT! It is everything a Metallica fan would ever
want. It is well worth the $90 I payed for it! Did I mention that it
comes with a free poster?
