==== STORY ABOUT THE NEW SINGLE ===================================
I received this message from Harold Evans from KHOP Radio 95.1-FM, telling
me why Metallica will release "Die die my darling" as their next single:

"Your newsletter gets information to me before most of our different news
services. However, I did not see anything about U.S. radio stations
jumping the gun on "Die, Die, My Darlin'." Apparently 28 stations were
playing it before its on-air date. I don't have all the information in
front of me, but I read somewhere that "Die, Die..." wasn't even going to
be released at all, but a stations skipped "Whiskey" and played "Die, Die,
My Darlin'" instead."

==== AND THE WINNER IS... =========================================
I have already picked a winner for the may quiz. And the winner is Phil
Konota from Japan. The rare "Unforgiven II" accetate single is already
sent to his address. Congrats'!

==== GOLD AWARD ===================================================
Before the show in Norway the band received Gold awards for the Garage
Inc. album from the Norwegian recordcompany. Congratulations boys! There
is a photo of this on the newspage http://www.encycmet.com

==== ARE METALLICA VISITING ENCYCMET? =============================
I met James and Jason backstage this Saturday when Metallica performed
here in Norway. They signed some of my rare items + I gave them a copy of
my book. When I gave Jason the book he looked at it and said "Oh, you're
the Encyclopedia Metallica guy - great site". James was in a hurry, so all
he said when I asked if he knew about the site as well was "Should I?
Sorry gotta go, I have a show to da". I have read somewhere that Jason is
answearing on Message boards on the net using different names, so you
might meet him on the board or chat room on my site.

==== GIG REPORT ===================================================
Date: May 29
City: Oslo, NORWAY
Venue: Spectrum
Att: 9 500 (Sold out)
By: Sem Hadland

I was backstage when Monster Magnet was on stage, but I could hear their
music, and I like them a lot.

This was the second indoor show here in Europe and it was easy to see that
the stage was made for outdoor concerts as it was very simple. I like
that, the stage was almost the same as they had on the Master of puppets
tour, except there were no crosses. There were also almost no pyro or
bombs, which made the music more important. That's the way I like
Metallica! The tickets sold out in a few days, and Spectrum only have room
for 9.500 people. Full "Master of Puppets", "Fight fire with fire" but not
"Whiskey", Metallica always does exactly what they want to do. James was
the main front man, while Kirk and Jason made the music a bit different
from the albums with their solos and doodles. Lars was a bit anonymous
behind the drums, but came to the front when the show was over and said
"Ha en god aften - vi ses" in Danish. I've seen the band many times, but
this was the best.

Tracks:
   Breadfan
   Master of Puppets
   Of wolf and man
The thing that should not be
   Fuel
   Memory remains
   Bleeding me
   Four Horsemen
   For whom the bell tolls
   King nothing
   Wherever I may roam
   One
   Fight fire with fire
   Nothing else Matters
   Sad but true
   Creeping death
   Die die die my darling
   Enter sandman
   Battery

==== WHERE TO FIND RARE METALLICA STUFF ===========================
As you probably know I'm a die hard Metallica collector myself. And there
is one online shop I would recomend for promos, limited editions and other
rarities. Esprit. You can visit them at
http://www.eil.co.uk/collection/metallica.asp

Next issue I will tell you some insiders tips on collecting + what to look
for when you buy items

==== GIG REPORT II ================================================
Date: June 1
City: Warsaw, POLAND
Venue: Gwardia Stadium
Att: 30 000
By: Tomasz Golinski

I just retured from Gig in Warsaw. It was first time I've seen them.
At the beginning appeared Mercyful Fate and Monster Magnet. Then played
Apocalyptica. They were also great - played a new cover - of Slayer. There
were also Master but as they said: "Only ONE can be the greatest!"
Metallica entered the scene near 21:00 and begun with Ecstasy
of Gold. They played standard tracklist - the same that during previous
shows. It was great. There were 30000 people at stadium. The only
disadvantage was drinks. Only 3 stands! No chance to get anything.
It's nice that Het is getting his hair long again!

==== PRIMUS + METALLICA = TRUE ====================================
The working title of the new Primus album is Anti-Pop, and it should be in
stores in August this year.
James Hetfield and (ex-Faith No More guitarist) Jim Martin play together
on a track and Kirk Hammett plays on another track.

20% of you wanted it weekly and 17% twice a week. OK, here is what I will
