King Nothing (Hetfield/Ulrich/Hammett)

The song "King Nothing" was Metallica's third single release of the "Load" album. The single was only released in North America.

The song live:
"King Nothing" was played for the first time live on September 23, 1995 at the Arctic Circle show in Northern Canada along with "Ain't my Bitch" and "Until it Sleeps". "King Nothing" was also performed at the American Music Awards on January 27, 1997.


The demo:
The demo of "King Nothing" was called "Load" (hence the title of Metallica's 6th album "Load") and was recorded in Lars' home studio 'Dungeon' by James and Lars on November 30, 1994.


Promo video:
The music video for this song was shot in Salt Lake City, Utah in December 1996. It was directed by Matt Mahurin, who has also directed videos for Mötley Crue, Quuensyrche, and the black "Metallica" album song "The Unforgiven". It was premiered by Mtv on January 17, 1997.


Singles:
This song was only released in North America as a single in January of 1997.


A tribute to Metallica:
The band "Castle of Pain" covered the song "King Nothing" for a tribute album called: "Overload: A Tribute to Metallica".
