Mama Said (Hetfield/Ulrich)

It is the third single release of the "Load" album which was only released outside North America. Several fans accused it of sounding "country" after hearing the steel guitar, which is a mostly country instrument.

Album:
Load

The song live:
Has never been played live on tour - but as an acoustic version.

The demo:
Jaymz has just written the song for himself and never intended for having it on any album. By chance the other guys heared him playing this song and liked it so much that they convinced James to record it for "Load". The demo was recorded on April 14, 1995 by James and Lars in Lars' home studio 'Dungeon'.

The subject matter:
It is a very personal song for James because the song is about how he always wanted to distance from his mother until one day she died and he realized that he always took her love for granted.
