Album:
Load
The song live:
It was live performed at the 1996 Mtv Video Music Awards. It was just a fixed part of
Metallica's live setlist on the "Poor Touring Me '96 - '97" tour.
The demo:
It was the name of the "Until It Sleeps" demo which was recorded on December 8, 1995
at The Plant Studios. "F.O.B.D" is a shortage of "Fell On Black
Days". This demo version had no lyrics yet so the melody of the vocals was just
hummed by James.
The video:
The music video for it was directed by Samuel Bayer. It was shot in various locations
around Los Angeles on May 6th and 7th in '96. It was premiered by Mtv on May 23th.
The video inspiration:
The inspiration for its music video was based on an artwork called "The Garden Of
Earthly Delights" which was painted by Hyeronimus Bosch. If you take a close look to the right site of the artwork's bottom you can see for
example the human-eating monster which also appears in the music video.
The single:
The single to "Until It Sleeps" was released worldwide on May 21 and on May 22 in
North America. Because of selling more than 500,000 copies the single was gold certified
on August 6, 1996.
The subject matter:
It is another dealing of Jaymz with the Christian-science. It was written by
James to cope with the illness of his father by cancer.
"So tell me why you've choosen me ..."
